Faux Quilted Pencil Case with Ann Butler Designs

Happy Sunday and last day of May, everyone! Summer is almost here and I can't wait to fill this pencil case with fun supplies and do some crafting on the go!

The Design Team was recently challenged by Ann Butler, to stamp on fabric and, well, I have to admit, I kind of went a bit overboard!  I looked around my studio to find a handful of fabric items and stamped them ALL!

I think the most fun I had was stamping on this plain canvas pencil case AND stamping this cute scribbly bird on felt!

Here's how I made it!

Ink a scrap of white felt with ColorBox Crafter's® Ink by Ann Butler in Aquamarine, let dry.  Ink up the ColorBox® Background Basic Doily Picnic Stamp by Ann Butler with ColorBox Crafter's® Ink by Ann Butler in Ocean Breeze, let dry.  Place standing bird from the Scribbly Bird Stamp Set by Dina Wakely Media from Ranger Ink on an acrylic block, ink with ColorBox Crafter's® Ink by Ann Butler in Night, let dry.  Color in beak and legs with yellow craft paint, let dry.  Place self-adhesive half pearl for eye.  Fussy cut and set aside.

Ink up the ColorBox® Background Basic Doily Picnic Stamp by Ann Butler with ColorBox Crafter's® Ink by Ann Butler in Berry, mist with water and then stamp in center of pencil case, let dry.

Ink up the ColorBox® Background Basic Diamonds Stamp by Ann Butler with ColorBox Crafter's® Ink by Ann Butler in Tangerine, mist with water and then stamp on the left side of pencil case, let dry.  Repeat, stamping on the right side of the pencil case.

Mimic the scribbly bird lines around the outside edge of the quilt blocks with Tombow USA MONO Twin Permanent Marker.  Attach scribbly bird to pencil case with Tombow USA MONO Multi Liquid Glue, let dry.

Fill with your favorite craft supplies, like yummy colored pencils and ENJOY!!

Meet me in the Sunshine Friend - Inspirational Canvas

Good Friday morning and WELCOME to the Tombow USA and Paper Issues Blog Hop!

You probably got here from Paper Issues but if you stumbled across my blog go the Paper Issues Blog to start!

I am not a traditional scrapbooker, card maker or paper crafter, instead I love to work in the Home Dec and three dimensional world of crafting, so on to my PATCHWORK CANVAS project!

Here's how I made it:

The Tombow USA Design Team received the Paper Issues March Swag Bag (monthly mini embellishments kit) and 12x12 paper from Webster's Pages and Crate Paper - YUMMY!  I loved that all of the papers had a similar color scheme and that YELLOW was a reoccurring color, so I decided to cut all of the Swag Bag papers up and create a Patchwork Canvas!

I have been very into creating from my craft stash recently, so I selected an 8" by 8" Walnut Hollow Basswood Canvas and went to town measuring and cutting and piecing the papers together until I was happy with the composition.

Next, squeeze out several dollops of Tombow USA MONO Aqua Liquid Glue on to the canvas, then spread evenly with the notched rubber broad tip.  The MONO Aqua Liquid Glue is acid free and photo safe, so it is PERFECT for applying paper to wood.  And there was no wrinkling or bubbling of the papers - another reason to LOVE Tombow USA products - SCORE!

TIP:  Since I had so many edges, I burnished them gently with my bone folder to obtain a good adhesion.

Continue to add MONO Aqua Liquid Glue and paper until the front of the canvas is covered.

I wanted a bold contrast for the sides of the canvas, so I selected Webster's Pages These are the Days paper by Megan Hoeppner
Measure and cut four rectangles to fit the sides of the canvas and attach with MONO Aqua Liquid Glue, burnish edges and let dry.

On to embellishing (one of my FAVORITE things!).  My March Swag Bag also contained a yellow printed doily, "I am" chipboard frame, gold button, gold stars and stickers.  Which I paired with Tombow USA 3D Foam Tabs to create a dimensional flower for the corner of my canvas.

I created "leaves" for my flower from additional papers and stickers, then attached them with Tombow USA Adhesive Dots  These Adhesive Dots are colored, so they are easy to see on your work surface, as well as on your projects!

I had these cool Amy Tan foam Thickers in my stash as well and what a fun statement - "meet me in the sunshine friend"  The Paper Issues March Swag Bag was filled with gold stars, hearts and arrows plus two sheets of great stickers and I think that they are the perfect addition to finish off my Patchwork Canvas!

Here is a detail of the finished Flower...

Tombow USA and Waffle Flower BLOG HOP!

HAPPY FRIDAY and WELCOME to the Waffle Flower and Tombow USA Blog Hop!!

This week Tombow USA is teaming up with Waffle Flower Crafts to bring you a blog hop full of inspiration! Make sure you visit Tombow USA and Waffle Flower on Facebook and tell them how much you loved this Blog Hop!

You probably hopped over here from Tessa Wise's blog but if not, please go back to the beginning of the hop at the Waffle Flower Blog so you don't miss any of the inspirational projects!

Here's how I made my Feathered Wreath:

Die cut approximately 30 large feathers and 30 small feathers from the Wafffle Flower Feather More Die Set using a variety of robins egg blue and turquoise patterned papers.  The Waffle Flower Dies are thin metal dies, that cut 2 layers of cardstock at a time - great for a project like this!

Place medium feather from the Waffle Flower Feather More Stamp Set on a clear acrylic stamp block.  Ink up stamp with Ranger Distress Inks Evergreen Bough, Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Faded Jeans and Salty Ocean.  The waffle Flower Stamps are a great quality and transfer the ink to the paper evenly without having to use a lot of pressure.

Repeat with large feather from the Waffle Flower Feather More Stamp Set.  The clear stamps make it super easy to line up the stamped image with the die cut shape!

Paint the 6" wreath form with Americana paint by DecoArt in Bahama Breeze, let dry. Attach approximately 12 large feathers to the front and 12 large feathers to the back of the wreath form using Tombow USA Xtreme Permanent Adhesive.  The Tombow Xtreme Adhesive has a strong, permanent bond, so attaching cardstock to wood is no problem!

Apply Tombow USA 3D Foam Tabs in between the large feathers on the front of the wreath.  Using your thumb nail and fore finger, curl each feather slightly.  Peel back liner paper and attach 12 medium feathers.  Tombow 3D Foam Tabs have a strong bond and are great for giving dimension to any project!

Attach a second layer of  Tombow USA 3D Foam Tabs in between the first layer of medium feathers.  Curl and attach 12 more medium feathers.

Here is a detail of the layers of curled feathers.  Just that slight curl gives a three dimensional POP to the wreath.

Attach 4 medium and 2 large feathers with Tombow USA 3D Foam Tabs to center of wreath for added texture.  Accent random feathers using the Tombow USA MONO Glue Pen to "draw on" detail lines, then sprinkle with glitter for extra sparkle!  The Tombow MONO Glue Pen literally draws the glue on to your surface which is great for super fine details and hard to reach places!

Here is another detail photo, so you can really see the dimension and the glitter!  LOVE!

Now on to the FUN stuff - PRIZES!!

You have until June 5th, 2015 to comment and the winner will be announced on June 6th.

Graduation season is upon us and I have a niece who will be graduating from high school in June. In preparation for her party, I created a Mortarboard Card Box to collect all of the greeting cards and well wishes that she will receive.

The varsity line of 3" letters from JOY was perfect to embellish the mortarboard with RVHS (Riverview High School) and 2015 in her school colors of blue and black - PERFECT!

Here's what you will need:
JOY Varsity 3" Embroidered Self Adhesive Letters and Numbers - RVHS and 2015 - Royal Blue.
Americana Paints by DecoArt - Lamp Black and Sapphire.
Tombow USA MONO Aqua Liquid Glue.
Paper Mâché Box - 8" diameter; Royal Blue Embroidery Floss; Black Craft Foam 11" by 17"; Scissor; Ruler; Pencil; Black Brad; Paint Brush; Palette and Water Basin.

Here's how I made it:

1) Base coat outside of box bottom and lid with Lamp Black, let dry.  Apply a second coat, if necessary. Base coat inside of box bottom and lid with Sapphire, let dry.  Apply a second coat, if necessary.

2) Measure and cut Craft Foam to 10" by 10" square.

3) Attach square to top of box lid with Tombow USA MONO Aqua Liquid Glue, let dry.

4) Create tassel from full skein of embroidery floss.  Measure and cut two 6" lengths, tie one around top loop of skein, then remove top paper wrapper.  Tie then wrap the other length around to create the top of the tassel.  Secure ends with MONO Aqua Liquid Glue. Cut other end with scissors to finish the tassel.

5) Measure center of mortarboard square, then apply the tassel and black brad, securing with MONO Aqua Liquid Glue, let dry.

6) Peel backing paper from self adhesive letters and numbers, then apply to the top and bottom edge of the mortarboard square.

Vintage Inspired Mirrored Dressing Table Tray

My Dressing Table Mirrored Tray project today features a decorative metal sheet and tools from

Here's what you will need:

Here's how I made it:

Wearing M-D Hobby and Craft Gloves, carefully cut your pattern from the Mosaic Perforated Aluminum Sheet with Hobby Shears.  Repeat and cut a second pattern, leaving the finished straight edge along the 2' length of both pieces.

Using needle nose pliers, turn over and crimp tightly each of the metal "tabs".  Dry fit both strips of Mosaic Perforated Aluminum Sheet around Smoothfoam 12" Disc.  Trim metal with Hobby Shears to match pattern at joints.

Have rubber Bands ready.  Apply generous layer of MONO Aqua Liquid Glue around outside edge of Smoothfoam 12" Disc.  Wrap around first strip, then second strip of Mosaic Perforated Aluminum Sheet.  Secure with rubber bands and let dry completely.

Remove rubber bands and place newspaper on work surface outside (or in a well ventilated area inside).  Spray paint embellished disc and 4 Smoothfoam 1 1/4" Balls with Design Master Colortool Robin's Egg.  Use several light coats to get proper coverage and avoid drips, let dry completely.  TIP:  Insert skewers into bottom of Smoothfoam Balls, then into a cardboard box lid to keep the balls from rolling around when sprayed.

Flip embellished disc over.  Trim skewers to 3" long.  Secure one end of skewer in ball and the other end into disc at 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock using Tombow USA MONO Aqua Liquid Glue, let dry.

Distress finish with wet paper towel dipped in Americana Paint Chocolate Brown by rubbing in nooks and crannies, then buffing with a clean paper towel.

Insert mirror, securing with glue, then place on your dressing table to organize perfumes and jewelry!
