Now on to my project - 

BACKGROUND BASICS PINWHEEL PICTURE FRAME!

Here is what you will need:

•  Ann Butler Crafter’s® Ink by Clearsnap – Limelight, Aquamarine, Sunshine, Lilac, Night and Berry
• Colorbox® Background Basics Stamps by Ann Butler – Checks, Diamond, Basket and Picnic
• Deflecto Craft Frame 8" x 10" Clear
• Tombow - Xtreme Permanent Adhesive, Xtreme Power Tabs and Dual Brush Pen Hot Pink #743
• Pastel Cardstock in Lavender, Pink, Green, Yellow and Blue; Ruler; Pencil; Buttons; Embroidery Floss; Scissors; Baby Wipes; Wooden Stamp Sentiment "All you need is Love".

Here is how I made it:

1.)  I received two Deflecto craft frames - 12' x 12" and 8" x 10", but decided to use the smaller because I had the perfect photo for this frame!

2.)  Stamp each of the four Colorbox® Background Basics Stamps by Ann Butler – Checks, Diamond, Basket and Picnic with the Ann Butler Crafter’s® Ink by Clearsnap – Limelight, Aquamarine, Sunshine, Lilac and Berry on the coordinating cardstock.  I love how Ann's brightly colored inks pop off the pastel cardstock colors! Trim each square neatly with scissors.

3.) Attach two contrasting squares together with Tombow Xtreme Adhesive. Draw lines from corner to corner, then measure 1" on either side of the center line.

4.)  Cut on each of the four solid lines, stopping at the 1" mark.

5.)  Attach a Tombow Xtreme Adhesive Tab to the center of the square. 

6.)  Fold in every other triangle point and secure to the adhesive to create a pinwheel.

7.)  Select a contrasting button and tie a bow with embroidery floss.  Attach button to pinwheel with Tombow Xtreme Adhesive Tab

8.)  Trim photo to fit frame.  Stamp Background Basics Picnic stamp on a 1" strip of green cardstock with Limelight Ink, then stamp sentiment with Night Ink.  Color a small heart with Tombow Dual Brush Pen.

9.)  Attach four pinwheels to top of frame with Tombow Xtreme Adhesive Tabs.

Back to School Craft: Vintage Ruler Picture Frame

I had hoarded collected these cute vintage inspired rulers from Seven Gypsies several years ago and they have been waiting in my craft stash for just the right project.  Now is their time to shine!  This project was completely crafted in under 15 minutes and from my existing stash!

Now, on to my project:

Materials:

• Seven Gypsies School Rulers - Black, White, Light Brown and Dark Brown.  They have been retired, but I found them at Simon Says Stamp
• Aleene'® Tacky Glue® by I Love to Create
• Americana Paints by DecoArt - Lamp Black and Chocolate Brown
• Mid-West Products Easy Cutter Ultimate - I got mine at Dick Blick
• Paint Brush, Water Basin, Palette, Paper Towels, Burlap Flower, Vintage Button, Black Twine and Unfinished Wooden Frame - 5" by 7" - Craft Store.

Instructions:

STEP ONE:  Paint the unfinished wooden frame with Lamp Black, let dry.  Distress the Black and White Ruler pieces with Chocolate Brown, let dry.

STEP TWO:  Measure and cut your sections on ruler, then dry fit on the frame.  Once you are pleased with the layout then glue all pieces in place with Aleene's Tacky Glue.  Set aside to dry.

STEP THREE:  Thread black twine through vintage button and tie in a knot.  Attach button to flower and burlap flower to frame.

I inserted a piece of dictionary paper with BACK TO SCHOOL written on it and will insert the First Day of School photo when the kids go back in August!
